Wellness Therapy Techniques
Swedish Massage- Your body holds the key to healing, but what it often needs is to fully relax and become open to letting-go. Swedish massage is great for full-body soreness, tight muscles, and enabling your body and mind to release. Swedish massage incorporates longer rhythmic strokes called effleurage, pulling and grasping called petrissage, compression, and gentle stretching for increased circulation.
Sports Massage/Deep Tissue- Sometimes what we need is a more specific massage therapy treatment designed to strip locked muscles and fascial tissue apart from each and the bone. Those who are more active, athletic, or recovering from an injury typically require specific deep tissue work to clear out myofascial adhesions and knots.
Restorative Yoga Postures- Different than going to a yoga class, restorative postures are a great way for us to show you how to maintain flexibility, balance, and relaxation throughout your body at home. We help select custom postures for your body and mind to get longer lasting results from bodywork.
Breathing Techniques- Our breathe is life and if we are not breathing right for the rest of the body will compensate. Breathing is linked to mental clarity, balanced physical structure, ease when moving, the ability to fully rest, and overall increased health.
Advanced Therapy Techniques
Fascial Stretch Therapy™- FST is the fastest way to achieve better range of motion, circulation, and myofascial balance using pain-free assisted stretching techniques. If you feel you are stuck, moving with too much stiffness, not recovering fast enough from athletics or workouts, Fascial Stretch Therapy can help you. The secret to FST’s effectiveness is the combination of using traction with leverage to unlock the joint capsule. You see, when we haven’t moved in a certain way for a long time, our joints get locked and cannot glide smoothly. They loose circulation and the surrounding tissue gums-up and gets stuck. This shuts down nearby fascia and muscle from functioning properly, thereby perpetuating the problem and causing other compensations. FST unlocks these deeper joint and fascial adhesions allowing for the system to re-boot and awaken.
Structural Bodywork- Working closely with myofascial structures in a way to release tension and imbalances to allow for better ease and balance is where structural bodywork works best. For those who regularly find that their posture resorts back to old patterns, or that a general whole-body massage is not getting to the root of the problem, working the deeper structures can help provide the space and relief you are looking for. Sessions are done with underwear on using less lotion to access fascial layers, spending time on regions of the body often untouched with the standard massage such as the diaphragm, deep neck, and pelvic floor.
CranioSacral- Craniosacral therapy is a one-of-a-kind approach to facilitating the body to heal itself. It’s a way of freeing fascial and structural restrictions along the spine in relation to the spinal membrane, cranial bones, and fascial system. It’s subtle, quiet work, the requires patience and listening to the softer rhythms of the body. Through injury and trauma, we often store tension and energy throughout our system that requires safety, patience, and the right touch and environment to become known and to release.
Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy- When muscles become overworked, tired, or chronically placed under stress, they develop nodules called trigger points. These points often refer to other areas of our body and can feel sharp or painful of feel dull and achy. Neuromuscular therapy helps to reset the tone of the muscles by working directly with your nervous system and releasing the trigger points.
Muscle Activation Techniques- By activating muscles that are weak and “turned-off”, we can reset muscular balance to your body so the same muscles can stop being over-worked and tight, and the weak muscles can activate and do their job. Isometric and manual resistance exercises on and off the table help us achieve this goal.
